Tomboy Tools

My friend, Deanna, had a Tomboy Tools party on Saturday.  We had a great consultant, Carrie, who showed us how to make a tile mosaic!  She had a ton of great information and tips and I think we all learned a lot!  Carrie also does other parties, including an auto care party.  Great for new drivers or women who just want to know what they are doing!  Here's a snapshot of our tiling party.

Some of the amazing products Tomboy Tools offers - and they are "pink for a purpose!"

 Deanna, our drill slinging host!

Carrie instructing us on safety.

Demonstrating the safety bag - you put the tile inside the bag then hammer it to break it apart.  All pieces stay inside!  It was pretty neat!

Emma putting the safety bag to use.

Carolyn filling in her design.

A flower - I think this was Emma's.

Emma's second coaster is shaping up to be a butterfly.

My project - a flower.  And my bag of grout.  We were given homework to grout our project.  I hope to do mine tonight or tomorrow.  I will post a picture for you when it is finished!

A Snow Day!

Yesterday, we were treated with our first snow of 2013, really the first one of winter.  By the time I got out to play in the snow today it was melting at a rapid pace, but I wanted Sarge to have a chance to romp and play in the white stuff - he loves it almost as much as I do.

Snow crystals in the trees.

Ezzy (Ezmerelda) was keeping an eye on me.

Poor Storm's yard is a mud pit right now.

A Practice Session

Yesterday, the girls helped me break in my new white paper backdrop.  It took me awhile to figure somethings out, but I learned a lot!  Here's a peak at our short, fun session!!

The biggest thing I learned for the day - my paper isn't big enough!  It was hard to get all three girls on the paper.  Good for a kid or two at a time, but not more than that. And a couple will be cutting it close. I also learned that I really do need those backdrop clamps, but in a pinch a binder clip will get the job done.

I learned Olivia is crazy, wait, I already knew that!  This is her "oooh" face with Chapowee.

I learned that my "kisses" heart is too light to translate well in a picture.  Looks like I will be redoing that one.

And now you all know that Olivia is crazy!

Milly was unsure of the whole thing!

Sophie was unimpressed with my paper.

Emma is a natural born poser!

And, I'm learning that in this blog my paper looks more grey than white.  In photoshop it is nice and bright - I guess next I need to learn what it looks like printed and adjust from there!

Valentine's Mini Session

Who wants to have a Valentine's Mini Session???

On February 2nd (February 9th for inclement weather or as an overflow date) I'm offering a Valentine's Mini Session!  The session will cost $75.00 and include - 30 minutes, 1 8x10, 1 5x7, and a CD of all the edited images from the session!  That's right, for only $75.00 you get a copy of all your edited images!!!

The mini session will be held at a residence in Johnson City with your choice of a few backgrounds.  There's a beautiful red wall and lovely furniture OR we can do it on the plain white paper background (this is not as boring as it sounds, I swear!).  I will have conversation hearts for props - you know, the little sweetheart candies that say things like "Be Mine" and "I love you" - well these are supersized!

It's going to be a lot of fun, so bring your sweetheart, your family, your kids - whoever you want!!  Call or email me today to set your time slot now.  There are only 8 spots available for February 2nd!!!  If the interest is high I will offer another 8 spots on February 9th.

The Olivia Act Update

Just a quick update on my participation in The Olivia Act - my family has been chosen and we are working on our whens and wheres!

I'm so excited about this I am planning on doing it again this year.  I will probably setup something in November so the family chosen this coming year will have their photos for Christmas!

Thank you to all who participated!!

Don't Stop Believin' in Kari's Heart Foundation

New Year's Eve found us at the Carnegie Hotel celebrating 80s style at the Don't Stop Believin' in Kari's Heart Foundation Gala 2012.  Lots of people showed up in their 80s best, including yours truly!   Here's a sneak peak at us partying the night away to raise money for KHF.

One of our servers and a bartender - they were pretty fun!

Auctions girls extraordinaire (Deanna, left, and Amy, middle) and yours truly rockin' the Cyndi Lauper wig!

Part of the Auction - it was huge this year.

Nikki Sixx (though I think Tommy Lee was the drummer!) and his main squeeze - Reese!

Valley girls?

Islands in the Stream - it's Dolly Parton and Kenny Rogers!

The party was so hot they called the fire department!
(Or our fog machine set the alarm off, whatever.)

Party crashers!!

And their co-horts!!

Mork and Mindy, oops, Madonna!

Midnight!
