November Photo Walk

I'm slightly disappointed in myself for November's photo walk.  We had several light snows and I think I was so fixated on finding the right snow to drive up Roan Mountain for pictures that I kind of let the month slide away.  On the 30th I went to Milligan College to take some family photos.  There are some very pretty spots around campus that I didn't know existed.  Here's just a few pictures I took in between family shots.

While we were taking pictures the Schoondyke's dog, Roxie, jumped right in the river!

I love a Celtic cross.

'Tis The Season

I rounded out November with several family sessions.  Here's a quick peek at some of my favorites.

This was my first year with the Bowman family.  We went out in the middle of nowhere to a family farm and had a great session.

I love this picture!  Baxter, the pup, was very camera shy.  This was one of many times everyone was focused on getting Baxter to not only sit, but turn around and look at me!

This year I met my Schoondykes at Milligan College.  It's a small, but beautiful campus with little hidden gems all around.

And my Graggs!  The girls enjoy climbing on their Dad's old truck.  These are just a few of our fun ones.

BONUS: This was my 100th post!  YAY!!!

October Photo Walks Part Three . . . and the last one!

It's the third and final installment of October fall fun photo walks!  Did you miss the first and second installments?  You can check them out here and here!  And don't miss a chance to purchase your favorite prints at my Etsy shop - J. Commons Photography on Etsy.

Roan Mountain.  It was breathtakingly gorgeous.  And honestly, my photos just don't do it justice.  I was disappointed to find as drove further up to Carver's Gap that all the leaves were gone!  Looks like I missed the color at the top by several weeks!  There's always next year. . .

October Photo Walks Part One

October was a busy month for me, but I managed to find time to run around to some of my favorite spots and catch the beauty of fall!  Over a week long period I made several trips to Sycamore Shoals, Watauga Lake, Roan Mountain, and several stops in between.  This first post will be around Sycamore Shoals and the covered bridge in Elizabethton.  You can find some of these prints, and others, for sale in my Etsy shop - J. Commons Photography on Etsy

Sycamore Shoals Path - not a lot of color, but I love the fallen leaves.

These ducks cracked me up.  They had some sort of courtship dance thing going on!

WF Stables, Jonesborough, TN

Last Thursday, I spent the afternoon at WF Stables in Jonesborough, TN.  Owner, Patti Walters, her staff, and all of their patrons were incredibly hospitable and allowed me access to everything.  I'm submitting several photos to Horse Illustrated and hope to report back that they were published!  For now, here are some of the other photos that I loved from the day.  Hopefully, I will be returning to the stables for their St. Jude fundraiser.  View all photos now at J. Commons Photography.

This horse is one horn short of unicorn status!

Trainer Paige is working four year-old green horse, Coco, on jumps.

Four year-old Paisley getting some instructions from her trainer, Paige.

Katelyn and her horse, Spirit.

Kristen has been riding since she was just three years old.  I enjoyed watching her with her horse.

Holly bringing Zippy in for her lesson.

Six year-old Danica during her lesson with her trainer, Ericka.

Nine year-old Hannah on my favorite horse of the day.  I think his name is Dream, but I'm a sucker for an Appaloosa.  Holly in the background on Zippy.

A five month-old colt, sadly, I didn't get his name.

A real deal Mustang.  The stables received him from a stable in Georgia.  The tattoo along his neck indicates when and where he was captured.

And who doesn't love a smiling goat?!

Anyone interested in any of these photos please feel free to contact me at jennifer.commons@gmail.com.  Once I choose the photos to submit to Horse Illustrated I will be publishing the rest of the photos at www.jcommonsphotography.com for purchase.
