Myers Family Session

Friday, I drove to parts of Greene County I had never seen before - they were pretty by the way - to do the Myers Family photos.  I had a great setting and a wonderful family to work with (they even fed me!).  Below is a sneak peak of their day.

The beautiful background.

The Olivia Act

Yesterday, I was reading a post by another photographer I follow and she was detailing her plans to participate in The Olivia Act.  The Olivia Act was started by a photographer after seeing professional photos that were recently done for one of the victims of the Sandy Hook Elementary shooting in Connecticut.  It touched her to think how happy those parents will be to have these photographic memories from a short time before these heinous acts.  They will be something the family treasures forever.  This photographer realized that not everyone is able to afford professional photography sessions and prints, and yet, everyone deserves to have these memories.  So, she decided to offer a free 30 minute photo session to a family who otherwise could not afford this service.  Quickly, her idea spread like wildfire among her photographer friends.  And so, The Olivia Act was born.

My plan is a simple one.  I am asking everyone I know, and everyone they know, to email me (jennifer.commons@gmail.com), or message me on Facebook, the name, contact info, and a brief summary of a family they feel deserves this free session.  The family must be located in the Tri-Cities, TN region - I will go as far south as Maryville, as far east as Asheville, NC, as far west as Norton, VA, and as far north as Abingdon, VA.  I will be taking names until December 31, 2012 and will pick a winner in January 2013.  The family will receive a 30 minute photo session at their home, or weather permitting some nice outside setting, an 8x10, and a disk with high-res images.

Please get the word out to your family and friends.  I feel very strongly about this project.  I have lost many family members, as I am sure you all have, and I am truly grateful for the photos I have of them.

Thank you.

A Schoondyke Christmas Shoot

Today I did the Schoondyke Christmas photos.  Things seemed to go a little quicker than usual because they were fitting me into their super busy schedule, but we still had a good time as always!!  I'm also working on a special book that has a compilation of their Chirstmas photos since 2008.  It's amazing to see how much they have grown since then!  Here's a couple of quick photos from our day.

More Pet Photos

I went to Amy's today to get photos of Woodstock and Peppermint Patty to add to the Pet Friends Forever wall and for Christmas gifts.  Woody was sick last time and Pepper was less than cooperative!  This time went a little better!

Woody - Love his whiskers in this picture.

Peppermint Patty

Sally - she kept photo bombing!

Pet Photos with Santa

Saturday was our Pet Photos with Santa day at Pet Friends Forever.  My mom and dad drove up to help us out and dad is an awesome Santa!  Sadly, our day fell a little flat.  We only had ten dogs (three of those belonging to Amy and I) and one little girl from the shop next door.  It may have been slow, but it was still a fun experience and maybe interest will grow for next year.  Here's a peek at the pets, and little girl, who visited. *To order your photos please visit www.jcommons.smugmug.com*
