WF Stables, Jonesborough, TN

Last Thursday, I spent the afternoon at WF Stables in Jonesborough, TN.  Owner, Patti Walters, her staff, and all of their patrons were incredibly hospitable and allowed me access to everything.  I'm submitting several photos to Horse Illustrated and hope to report back that they were published!  For now, here are some of the other photos that I loved from the day.  Hopefully, I will be returning to the stables for their St. Jude fundraiser.  View all photos now at J. This horse is one horn short of unicorn status!

Nine year-old Hannah on my favorite horse of the day.  I think his name is Dream, but I'm a sucker for an Appaloosa.  Holly in the background on Zippy.

A five month-old colt, sadly, I didn't get his name.

A real deal Mustang.  The stables received him from a stable in Georgia.  The tattoo along his neck indicates when and where he was captured.

And who doesn't love a smiling goat?!

Another September Photo Walk!

Saturday, I was supposed to take pictures at a horse farm and it fell through.  When I got home I was still in a photo shooting mood, so I grabbed the Schnauzer and we headed to Sycamore Shoals for a quick walk.  It was beautiful outside.  I didn't take a lot of photos, but the reflection on the river was amazing.  Throw in a flock of geese in their V formation and it was perfect!

 There were a couple of men fly fishing.  You can see one standing out in the middle.

 I love how the light is shining through the bee's wings.

August-September Photo Walk

August was so miserably humid I just could not get out to do photo walks.  My asthma is not a big fan of the humidity.  So, I managed to take a few photos around the yard of the remaining summer flowers at the end of August and first few days of September.  This is only a snapshot of the flowers, I can't believe how many different types of flowers we have in our yard!

Now that the humidity is leaving the air hopefully I can get out again this month.

One day I will refinish these chairs to go with my bottle cap table . . .

I almost dropped my camera and fell over backwards when this bee flew straight at me!

This is Salem.  I love this cat - he's crazy! (Please ignore my filthy window.  The cats eat in this window and I gave up trying to keep it clean a long time ago!)

I think this rock has sat on the steps of our front porch since we moved in seven years ago.  I have no idea why it's there.  Maybe if we used the front door we would be more inclined to move the rock.  

It was too early in the morning for the sunflower, it wasn't ready to be open and beautiful, yet!

There is something haunting about the dead thistles that I just love.
